Dear Parents,
Summer Term – Week 2
This week’s topic was Science: Minibeasts.
Our eight small caterpillars are growing bigger and bigger! Over the coming days and weeks, the children will have the opportunity to watch them grow, form a chrysalis, and eventually become butterflies. Throughout the week, we discussed different minibeasts and their features.
In Art and Craft, the children created beautiful ladybirds and painted bees.

Group Time Highlights
During group time, we:
- Danced to the “Incy Wincy Spider” song

- Introduced the letter w in Phonics (for “worm”)
- Read the story “The Very Greedy Bee”
- Began practising songs for the end-of-year show

A Quick Look at Our Week
Monday:
During Italian, we practised the “Farfallina” song and reviewed previous learning.
Tuesday (Cooking):
We made bread! The children mixed all the ingredients and had lots of fun (and made a bit of a mess π). We also pretended to create a “bread spider” decorated with origano.
Wednesday (Forest School):
The children planted plants received from Myatt’s Fields Park in prepared pots. Please remember to water them regularly and transfer them to larger pots in about 4 weeks. The children really enjoyed this activity.
Thursday (Computer Science):
The children practised using the mouse through a maths activity, helping to develop hand-eye coordination and early numeracy skills.
Friday (Drama & Music):
In Drama, the children took part in a movement activity using classical music (“Winter” from Vivaldi), supporting coordination, focus, and cognitive development. They also enjoyed acting out and making insect sounds.
