Newsletter Spring Term – Week 7

Dear parents,

This week’s theme was Chinese New Year.

The children explored this special celebration through hands-on learning and creative activities. They created two beautiful artworks: a painted Chinese fan and a lantern, where they practised their cutting skills. We also watched a short video to learn more about how Chinese New Year is celebrated around the world.

### Vocabulary Focus

This week, we introduced and explored the following words:

Chinese New Year, culture, dragon, envelope, fireworks, spring rolls, dumplings, fortune, crackle, luck, and more.

### Group Time Highlights

During group time:

- We danced to a Chinese song.

- In Maths, we matched Chinese envelopes to numbers on a number line.

- In Phonics, we introduced the letter N for New.

- We read the story “Lunar New Year”

### Montessori Activity

In the tray, we prepared a Chinese-themed activity with decorations and containers filled with rice. The children practised transferring rice from one container to another using a spoon, developing their fine motor skills and concentration.

### A Quick Look at Our Week

Monday:

In Italian, the children repeated the song “Per fare un fiore” and learned new words such as fuori, albero, and legno.

Tuesday:

We prepared Chinese spring rolls. The children chopped white cabbage, carrots, and onions, then wrapped them in rice paper sheets.

Wednesday:

At Forest School, the children collected leaves, placed them in a tray, and threw them into the air pretending they were fireworks.

Thursday:

During Computer Science time, the children practised using the mouse through a maths activity to improve hand-eye coordination and early numeracy skills.

Friday (Drama & Music):

The children worked together to create a Chinese dragon dance. They hid under a long piece of fabric to form the dragon’s body and danced to Chinese music. It was great fun!

- Thursday 5th – World Book Day: Children should come dressed as their favourite book character and, if possible, bring the related book to school.

Newsletter Autumn Term – Week 3

Dear Parents, This week’s theme was Family! The children drew their homes and created their very own family trees. 🌟 Vocabulary Focus This week, we introduced the following words: Mother, father, sister, brother, siblings, grandpa, grandma, and more. 🌟 Group Time Highlights • We read the book Family • Sang nursery rhymes • Practised counting from 1 to 10 • Continued practising colours 🌟 Montessori Activity This week, we explored Montessori activity boards (also known as busy boards). These wonderful educational tools stimulate development through hands-on play. Ciao Ciao Newsletter Summer Term – Week 7 Dear Parents, This week, we celebrated Father’s Day with lots of love and creativity! Ciao Ciao Newsletter Summer Term – Week 5 Dear Parents, Our topic for the week is butterflies . This week, we focused on the butterfly life cycle. The children painted paper butterflies, made caterpillars out of egg boxes, and decorated butterfly stencils. We also watched a BBC video about metamorphosis. We introduced important vocabulary such as: Butterfly, Cocoon, Chrysalis, Metamorphosis During group time, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar , sang nursery rhymes, practiced counting from 1 to 10, and reviewed the letters A, B, and C. Our Montessori activity this week focused on a practical life skill: washing toys . Here’s a quick look at what we did each day: • Monday – Italian We sang “Farfallina” and practiced our “Ciao Ciao” song. (Farfallina means “butterfly” in Italian.) • Tuesday – Cooking We made bread with rosemary or oregano.
