Ciao Ciao Newsletter Spring Term - Week 3

Dear Parents,

This week’s theme was Winter Animals.

The children completed two art activities:

A transport picture made using geometric shapes and sticking

An origami paper boat, painted blue

Vocabulary Focus

This week, we introduced and explored the following vocabulary:

transport, track, van, lorry, ambulance, police car, fire engine, and more

Group Time Highlights

We sang different transport-themed songs such as The Wheels on the Bus, The Big Red Bus, and Row, Row, Row Your Boat

For maths, we worked on geometry, singing shape songs and encouraging children to recognise and guess different shapes

In phonics, we introduced the letter T for transport

We read a Peppa Pig story based on transport and neighbours

Montessori Activity

The children played with a car track set up in a large tray. They used masking tape as roads and bridges, pretending to drive cars carefully over a paper bridge, paying attention not to break it. This activity supported concentration and fine motor skills.

A Quick Look at Our Week

Monday:

In Italian, we continued practising the song Balliamo, and the children learned some transport words such as auto and pullman.

Tuesday:

We cooked gnocchi by mixing flour, mashed potatoes, and eggs. We apologise if they arrived home a little squashed! The children enjoyed mixing the ingredients and making small gnocchi shapes.

Wednesday:

At Forest School, the children created a boat and a van using recycled boxes and paint. The following day, they enjoyed playing with them.

Thursday:

In Computer Science, the children practised using laptops and a mouse to develop hand–eye coordination.

Friday (Drama & Music):

In Drama, the children played an expression-copying game. They acted out different emotions such as crying, screaming, laughing, and more.

Wishing you all a lovely and restful weekend!

Warm regards,

Linda
