Ciao Ciao Newsletter Autumn Term – Week 12

Dear Parents,

This week’s theme was The Solar System!

The children had a wonderful time exploring the planets in our universe. They enjoyed two art and craft activities where they created their own universe using star stamping and painted a watercolour planet.

This week, we introduced and explored the following words:

universe, planets, Earth, sun, solar system, astronaut, rocket ship, moon, Mars, and more.

Group Time Highlights

• We continued practising our Christmas songs.

• We sang the Moon, Moon song.

• The children counted backwards from 8 to 0.

• We introduced the letter S for Solar System.

• We read the book The Space Book.

Montessori Activity

Our Montessori activity was based on the solar system. The children identified the planets and placed them in the correct order.

A Quick Look at Our Week

Monday:

In Italian, we learned the song Giro Giro Tondo and explored new Italian words such as mondo (world) and sole (sun).

Tuesday:

We prepared a vegetable pancake designed to look like a planet.

Wednesday:

At Forest School, we decorated the Christmas tree.

Thursday:

In Computer Science, the children learned how to take photos using a tablet.

Friday (Drama & Music):

In Drama, the children acted out a space-themed performance.

Newsletter: Summer Term, Week 3

Ciao Ciao Newsletter: Summer Term, Week 3 Dear Parents, Our topic for the next two weeks will be “Transport”! This week, the children painted two cardboard boxes to make a car and a van. On Friday, they had lots of fun playing inside them! They also made traffic lights and coloured in transport-themed drawings. We played a maths game with toy cars to help develop their numeracy skills. During group time, we read the story of Poor Old Rabbit to teach the importance of taking care of toys. We also sang nursery rhymes, talked about transports, and continued practicing numbers from 1 to 10, as well as the letters A, B, and C. Our Montessori activity for the week was opening and closing boxes and bottles—great for developing fine motor skills. Ciao Ciao Newsletter Summer Term – Week 5 Dear Parents, Our topic for the week is butterflies . This week, we focused on the butterfly life cycle. The children painted paper butterflies, made caterpillars out of egg boxes, and decorated butterfly stencils. We also watched a BBC video about metamorphosis. We introduced important vocabulary such as: Butterfly, Cocoon, Chrysalis, Metamorphosis During group time, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar , sang nursery rhymes, practiced counting from 1 to 10, and reviewed the letters A, B, and C. Our Montessori activity this week focused on a practical life skill: washing toys . Here’s a quick look at what we did each day: • Monday – Italian We sang “Farfallina” and practiced our “Ciao Ciao” song. (Farfallina means “butterfly” in Italian.) • Tuesday – Cooking We made bread with rosemary or oregano. Dear Parents, This week’s theme was Family! The children drew their homes and created their very own family trees. 🌟 Vocabulary Focus This week, we introduced the following words: Mother, father, sister, brother, siblings, grandpa, grandma, and more. 🌟 Group Time Highlights • We read the book Family • Sang nursery rhymes • Practised counting from 1 to 10 • Continued practising colours 🌟 Montessori Activity This week, we explored Montessori activity boards (also known as busy boards). These wonderful educational tools stimulate development through hands-on play.
