Ciao Ciao Newsletter Autumn Term – Week 11

Dear Parents,

This week’s theme was Animals!

The children had a wonderful time exploring different kinds of animals. They enjoyed two art-and-craft activities where they created a tortoise 🐢 and an elephant 🐘.

Vocabulary Focus

This week, we introduced and practised the following words:

tortoise, elephant, tiger, cow, snake, parrot, monkey, donkey, and more.

Group Time Highlights

We continued learning Christmas songs.

We sang Old MacDonald Had a Farm.

The children counted animals up to 20.

We played What’s in the Bag? using animal figures.

We continued introducing the letter A for Animal.

We read the book Animal Market Shop.

Montessori Activity

During Montessori time, the children worked with big, medium, and small animal figures and sorted them into the correct size categories.

A Quick Look at Our Week

Monday:

During Italian, the children learned some Italian animal words.

Tuesday:

We prepared a chocolate race cake. The children enjoyed eating it at school—even while they were still making it! 😂

Wednesday:

At Forest School, the children created pine-cone hedgehogs (porcospini).

Thursday:

In Computer Science, the children played an animal-matching game where they had to match animals with the correct hats. They are still practising hand–eye coordination.

Friday (Drama & Music):

In Drama, the children listened to animal sounds, guessed which animals they belonged to, and then acted them out.
