Ciao Ciao Newsletter Autumn Term – Week 11

Dear Parents,

This week’s theme was Animals!

The children had a wonderful time exploring different kinds of animals. They enjoyed two art-and-craft activities where they created a tortoise 🐢 and an elephant 🐘.

Vocabulary Focus

This week, we introduced and practised the following words:

tortoise, elephant, tiger, cow, snake, parrot, monkey, donkey, and more.

Group Time Highlights

We continued learning Christmas songs.

We sang Old MacDonald Had a Farm.

The children counted animals up to 20.

We played What’s in the Bag? using animal figures.

We continued introducing the letter A for Animal.

We read the book Animal Market Shop.

Montessori Activity

During Montessori time, the children worked with big, medium, and small animal figures and sorted them into the correct size categories.


A Quick Look at Our Week

Monday:

During Italian, the children learned some Italian animal words.




Tuesday:

We prepared a chocolate race cake. The children enjoyed eating it at school—even while they were still making it! 😂

Wednesday:

At Forest School, the children created pine-cone hedgehogs (porcospini).


Thursday:

In Computer Science, the children played an animal-matching game where they had to match animals with the correct hats. They are still practising hand–eye coordination.

Friday (Drama & Music):

In Drama, the children listened to animal sounds, guessed which animals they belonged to, and then acted them out.

Tuesday 16th December: Christmas Show at 9:30 am, followed by a party and a special visit from Santa Claus!

Thursday 18th December: Trip to Longfield Hall to watch The Elves and the Shoemaker

Friday 19th December: School closes early at 1:30 pm

Ciao Ciao Newsletter: Summer Term, Week 3 Dear Parents, Our topic for the next two weeks will be  “Transport”! This week, the children painted two cardboard boxes to make a car and a van. On Friday, they had lots of fun playing inside them! They also made traffic lights and coloured in transport-themed drawings. We played a maths game with toy cars to help develop their numeracy skills. During group time, we read the story of  Poor Old Rabbit  to teach the importance of taking care of toys. Newsletter Week 5

  Ciao Ciao Newsletter Summer Term – Week 5 Dear Parents, Our topic for the week is  butterflies . This week, we focused on the butterfly life cycle. The children painted paper butterflies, made caterpillars out of egg boxes, and decorated butterfly stencils. We also watched a BBC video about metamorphosis. We introduced important vocabulary such as: Butterfly, Cocoon, Chrysalis, Metamorphosis During group time, we read  The Very Hungry Caterpillar , sang nursery rhymes, practiced counting from 1 to 10, and reviewed the letters A, B, and C. Our Montessori activity this week focused on a practical life skill:  washing toys . Here’s a quick look at what we did each day: • Monday – Italian We sang “Farfallina” and practiced our “Ciao Ciao” song.  (Farfallina means “butterfly” in Italian.) • Tuesday – Cooking We made bread with rosemary or oregano. Newsletter Autumn Term – Week 3

Dear Parents, This week’s theme was Family! The children drew their homes and created their very own family trees. 🌟 Vocabulary Focus This week, we introduced the following words: Mother, father, sister, brother, siblings, grandpa, grandma, and more. 🌟 Group Time Highlights • We read the book Family • Sang nursery rhymes • Practised counting from 1 to 10 • Continued practising colours 🌟 Montessori Activity This week, we explored Montessori activity boards (also known as busy boards). These wonderful educational tools stimulate development through hands-on play. The children especially enjoyed the activity of placing balls into the “ice cream.” 🌟 A Quick Look at Our Week Monday – In Italian, we continued practising the song Se sei felice e lo sai.
