Ciao Ciao Newsletter Autumn Term – Week 9

Dear Parents,

This week’s theme was Black History!

The children had a wonderful time exploring Black culture. They enjoyed two art and craft activities where they created a heart made of hands and a peace ☮️ symbol.

Vocabulary Focus

This week, we introduced and explored the following words:

beautiful, skin, inclusion, equality

Group Time Highlights

• We have started learning our Christmas songs.

• The children continued practising how to recognise numbers from 1 to 10.

• We continued working with the letter B for Black History.

• We read two books: “The Colour of Us” and “All People Are Beautiful”.

Montessori Activity

During Montessori time, the children enjoyed a sensory tray activity. They played with dolls of different skin tones and explored diversity through play.

A Quick Look at Our Week

Monday:

In Italian, we focused on words such as Natale (Christmas), Buon Natale (Merry Christmas), campane (bells), and sentire (feelings).

Tuesday:

We baked seasoned potatoes—the children pulled apart and cut the boiled potatoes, then covered them with salt and seasoning. 🧂

Wednesday:

At Forest School, the children painted a heart on a wooden block.

Thursday:

We practised using the computer mouse for colouring activities, helping to develop hand–eye coordination.

Friday (Drama & Music):

We watched a video showing different African instruments. The children listened to the sounds, copied the rhythms, and later listened to a piece of African music featuring all the instruments. Their favourite was the djembe!

Newsletter Autumn Term – Week 3

Dear Parents, This week’s theme was Family! The children drew their homes and created their very own family trees. 🌟 Vocabulary Focus This week, we introduced the following words: Mother, father, sister, brother, siblings, grandpa, grandma, and more. 🌟 Group Time Highlights • We read the book Family • Sang nursery rhymes • Practised counting from 1 to 10 • Continued practising colours 🌟 Montessori Activity This week, we explored Montessori activity boards (also known as busy boards). These wonderful educational tools stimulate development through hands-on play. The children especially enjoyed the activity of placing balls into the “ice cream.” 🌟 A Quick Look at Our Week Monday – In Italian, we continued practising the song Se sei felice e lo sai. Newsletter Summer Term – Week 7

Ciao Ciao Newsletter Summer Term – Week 7 Dear Parents, This week, we celebrated Father’s Day with lots of love and creativity! The children worked on two special activities: • A Father’s Day card • A Super Dad bookmark We also began practicing for Sports Day —and let’s just say, getting everyone to follow instructions was a workout in itself! 😂 ⸻ Vocabulary Focus: This week, we introduced the words: flying , lying , sad , and grumpy Group Time Highlights: • We read Dogs Can Fly • Sang nursery rhymes • Practiced counting from 1 to 10 • Worked with groups of objects • Learned a fun new numbers song ⸻ Montessori Activity: Our sensory experience this week was a sand pit activity. Ciao Ciao Newsletter Summer Term – Week 5 Dear Parents, Our topic for the week is butterflies . This week, we focused on the butterfly life cycle. The children painted paper butterflies, made caterpillars out of egg boxes, and decorated butterfly stencils. We also watched a BBC video about metamorphosis. We introduced important vocabulary such as: Butterfly, Cocoon, Chrysalis, Metamorphosis During group time, we read The Very Hungry Caterpillar , sang nursery rhymes, practiced counting from 1 to 10, and reviewed the letters A, B, and C. Our Montessori activity this week focused on a practical life skill: washing toys . Here’s a quick look at what we did each day: • Monday – Italian We sang “Farfallina” and practiced our “Ciao Ciao” song. (Farfallina means “butterfly” in Italian.) • Tuesday – Cooking We made bread with rosemary or oregano. The children mixed flour, water, salt, yeast, and oil to make their dough, then chose their own herbs to flavor...
