 Ciao Ciao Newsletter – Autumn Term, Week 7


Dear Parents,

This week’s theme was Halloween and Diwali in our sensory activities!

The children had a wonderful time — they made skeletons using cotton buds, lanterns, and spiders with black paint. They also enjoyed watching a Diwali video.

Vocabulary Focus

This week, we introduced and explored the following words:

Diwali, light, lantern, witch, hat, pot, potion, Halloween, skeleton, dark, frightening, scared, bones, pumpkin, hammer, and more.

Group Time Highlights


Read the story Meg and Mog

Sang nursery rhymes

Practised counting from 1 to 10

Continued working on colour recognition

Introduced the letter H for Halloween in phonics

Montessori Activity

During Montessori time, we explored two sensory trays:

One for Diwali, where the children coloured a caterpillar

One for Halloween, where they made a magic potion

In both activities, they used coloured water and droppers — little scientists in action! πŸ§ͺ

A Quick Look at Our Week

Monday:

In Italian, we continued practising Chiudi gli occhi and introduced a new song: Fra Martino.

Tuesday:

We didn’t have cooking this week as we celebrated our Halloween Party! The children enjoyed face painting, tattoos, games, food, and dancing.

Wednesday:

At Forest School, the children cleaned pumpkins and explored pouring and scooping activities with pumpkin seeds in bowls.


Thursday:

For the first time, the children used a tablet to match shapes — a fun way to support their cognitive development.

Friday (Drama & Music):

The children met four new instruments: the violin, flute, horn, and whistle.

  Ciao Ciao Newsletter Summer Term – Week 7 Dear Parents, This week, we celebrated  Father’s Day  with lots of love and creativity! The children worked on two special activities: • A  Father’s Day card • A  Super Dad bookmark We also began practicing for  Sports Day —and let’s just say, getting everyone to follow instructions was a workout in itself! πŸ˜‚ ⸻ Vocabulary Focus: This week, we introduced the words: flying ,  lying ,  sad , and  grumpy Group Time Highlights: • We read  Dogs Can Fly • Sang nursery rhymes • Practiced counting from 1 to 10 • Worked with groups of objects • Learned a fun new  numbers song ⸻ Montessori Activity: Our sensory experience this week was a  sand pit  activity. Newsletter Week 5

  Ciao Ciao Newsletter Summer Term – Week 5 Dear Parents, Our topic for the week is  butterflies . This week, we focused on the butterfly life cycle. The children painted paper butterflies, made caterpillars out of egg boxes, and decorated butterfly stencils. We also watched a BBC video about metamorphosis. We introduced important vocabulary such as: Butterfly, Cocoon, Chrysalis, Metamorphosis During group time, we read  The Very Hungry Caterpillar , sang nursery rhymes, practiced counting from 1 to 10, and reviewed the letters A, B, and C. Our Montessori activity this week focused on a practical life skill:  washing toys . Here’s a quick look at what we did each day: • Monday – Italian We sang “Farfallina” and practiced our “Ciao Ciao” song.  (Farfallina means “butterfly” in Italian.) • Tuesday – Cooking We made bread with rosemary or oregano.
