Summer Term – Week 6

Dear Parents,

This week, our topic was The Five Senses.

The children completed two activities exploring sight, hearing, smell, taste, and touch. We also created a fun “Mrs. Potato” face, where the children guessed where to place the eyes, mouth, nose, and ears.

Another highlight was making a colorful Elmer collage.

We introduced key vocabulary such as:

Listening, taste, touch, hearing, and seeing.

During group time, we:

Read Elmer the Elephant

Sang nursery rhymes

Practiced counting from 1 to 10

Worked with groups of objects

Introduced the letter D

Our Montessori activity this week focused on developing the five senses. The children wore blindfolds and used their other senses to guess what they were tasting, smelling, and touching. We also played a listening game where they identified animal sounds.

Here’s a quick look at our week:

Monday – Italian:

We sang Fra Martino together.

Tuesday – Cooking:

The children made pizza bread using bread, tomatoes, mozzarella, oregano, and salt.

Wednesday – Forest School:

We explored the garden and ticked off what we could hear, see, and smell on our sensory checklist.

Thursday – Computer Science:

The children had their first experience using tablets to match shapes.

Friday – Drama:

We acted out Elmer the Elephant. The children pretended to be elephants 🐘 and practiced our performance song.

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

Warm regards,

Linda
