Summer Term – Week 4

Dear Parents,

Our topic over the next two weeks is Transport!

This week, we focused especially on road safety and walking safely. The children painted paper boats and used stencils to create different types of transport. We watched a BBC video about road safety and had discussions about how to walk safely, the importance of using the footpath, and always crossing at the traffic lights.

We introduced key road safety vocabulary like:

Zebra crossingtraffic lightsfootpathgreen man, and red man.

Our sentence of the week was: “STOP, Look, and Go!”

During group time, we practiced crossing the road using a zebra crossing that the children helped paint, along with red and green man flashcards. We also sang nursery rhymes, talked about different types of transport, practiced counting from 1 to 10, and reviewed the letters A, B, and C.

                                                            Our Montessori activity

this week focused on practical life skills: the children took clothes off a washing line and practiced folding them.

Here’s a quick look at our week:

Monday – Italian

We sang “Giro Giro Tondo” in Italian and practiced the “Ciao Ciao” song.

    • Tuesday – Cooking

We made gnocchi, a special Italian pasta. Ingredients included potatoes, water, eggs, salt, and flour.

Wednesday – Forest School

Shabina collect plants from Marty’s Field Park garden and we planted them in our school garden—cucumbers, tomatoes, beetroot, green beans, chillies, and more!

All leftover plants were offered to parents.

Thursday – Computer Science

We practiced using a computer mouse through a fun hand-washing game.

Friday – Drama

We had a special outdoor drama class in the garden. The children learned the musical scale: Do, Re, Mi, Fa, Sol, La, Si, Do and sang “I Am the Music Man” using Makaton signs.

Our caterpillars are growing quickly—we’re all excited to see them turn into butterflies soon!

Wishing you all a lovely weekend!

Warm regards,

Linda
